Mexico stocks lower at close of trade; S&P/BMV IPC down 0.27%

Investing.com – Mexico stocks were lower after the close on Thursday, as losses in the Industrials, Consumer Goods & Services and Consumer Staples sectors led shares lower.

At the close in Mexico, the S&P/BMV IPC lost 0.27% to hit a new 52-week low.

The best performers of the session on the S&P/BMV IPC were Controladora Vuela Compania de Aviacion SAB de CV (BMV:VOLARA), which rose 4.97% or 0.79 points to trade at 16.67 at the close. Meanwhile, Grupo Aeroportuario del Pacifico SAB De CV Class B (BMV:GAPB) added 2.56% or 9.28 points to end at 372.32 and Gentera SAB de CV (BMV:GENTERA) was up 1.96% or 0.50 points to 26.05 in late trade.

The worst performers of the session were Orbia Advance Corporation SAB de CV (BMV:ORBIA), which fell 2.56% or 0.47 points to trade at 17.89 at the close. Wal Mart de Mexico SAB de CV (BMV:WALMEX) declined 2.48% or 1.40 points to end at 54.95 and Fomento Economico Mexicano UBD (BMV:FEMSAUBD) was down 2.14% or 4.07 points to 186.23.

Falling stocks outnumbered advancing ones on the Mexico Stock Exchange by 132 to 93 and 24 ended unchanged.

Shares in Controladora Vuela Compania de Aviacion SAB de CV (BMV:VOLARA) rose to 52-week highs; gaining 4.97% or 0.79 to 16.67. Shares in Orbia Advance Corporation SAB de CV (BMV:ORBIA) fell to 5-year lows; losing 2.56% or 0.47 to 17.89. Shares in Grupo Aeroportuario del Pacifico SAB De CV Class B (BMV:GAPB) rose to all time highs; up 2.56% or 9.28 to 372.32. Shares in Wal Mart de Mexico SAB de CV (BMV:WALMEX) fell to 3-years lows; down 2.48% or 1.40 to 54.95. Shares in Fomento Economico Mexicano UBD (BMV:FEMSAUBD) fell to 52-week lows; losing 2.14% or 4.07 to 186.23.

Gold Futures for December delivery was down 0.61% or 15.75 to $2,570.75 a troy ounce. Elsewhere in commodities trading, Crude oil for delivery in December rose 0.32% or 0.22 to hit $68.65 a barrel, while the January Brent oil contract rose 0.26% or 0.19 to trade at $72.47 a barrel.

USD/MXN was down 0.26% to 20.44, while EUR/MXN fell 0.76% to 21.51.

The US Dollar Index Futures was up 0.44% at 106.84.
