Japan stocks higher at close of trade; Nikkei 225 up 0.87%

Investing.com – Japan stocks were higher after the close on Tuesday, as gains in the Shipbuilding, Retail and Transportation Equipment sectors led shares higher.

At the close in Tokyo, the Nikkei 225 added 0.87% to hit a new 1-month high.

The best performers of the session on the Nikkei 225 were Lasertec Corp (TYO:6920), which rose 6.63% or 1,590.00 points to trade at 25,590.00 at the close. Meanwhile, Isetan Mitsukoshi Holdings Ltd. (TYO:3099) added 6.55% or 155.00 points to end at 2,520.00 and Dainippon Screen Mfg. Co., Ltd. (TYO:7735) was up 6.40% or 670.00 points to 11,140.00 in late trade.

The worst performers of the session were Eneos Holdings Inc (TYO:5020), which fell 4.71% or 39.70 points to trade at 802.50 at the close. Inpex Corp. (TYO:1605) declined 3.26% or 68.50 points to end at 2,031.50 and Toray Industries, Inc. (TYO:3402) was down 3.05% or 25.90 points to 822.90.

Rising stocks outnumbered declining ones on the Tokyo Stock Exchange by 2270 to 1342 and 256 ended unchanged.

The Nikkei Volatility, which measures the implied volatility of Nikkei 225 options, was unchanged 0.00% to 28.67.

Crude oil for November delivery was down 3.67% or 2.71 to $71.12 a barrel. Elsewhere in commodities trading, Brent oil for delivery in December fell 3.63% or 2.81 to hit $74.65 a barrel, while the December Gold Futures contract fell 0.09% or 2.30 to trade at $2,663.30 a troy ounce.

USD/JPY was down 0.19% to 149.46, while EUR/JPY fell 0.34% to 162.82.

The US Dollar Index Futures was down 0.02% at 103.06.
