Brazil stocks higher at close of trade; Bovespa up 0.26%

Investing.com – Brazil stocks were higher after the close on Thursday, as gains in the Financials, Basic Materials and Electric Power sectors led shares higher.

At the close in Sao Paulo, the Bovespa rose 0.26%.

The best performers of the session on the Bovespa were IRB Brasil Resseguros SA (BVMF:IRBR3), which rose 11.30% or 4.35 points to trade at 42.85 at the close. Meanwhile, Brava Energia SA (BVMF:BRAV3) added 6.64% or 1.27 points to end at 20.40 and Companhia Brasileira De Distribuica (BVMF:PCAR3) was up 5.35% or 0.13 points to 2.56 in late trade.

The worst performers of the session were Cvc Brasil ON (BVMF:CVCB3), which fell 7.74% or 0.12 points to trade at 1.43 at the close. Magazine Luiza SA (BVMF:MGLU3) declined 6.45% or 0.45 points to end at 6.53 and Minerva SA/Brazil (BVMF:BEEF3) was down 4.04% or 0.22 points to 5.22.

Rising stocks outnumbered declining ones on the B3 Stock Exchange by 618 to 346 and 46 ended unchanged.

Shares in Cvc Brasil ON (BVMF:CVCB3) fell to all time lows; down 7.74% or 0.12 to 1.43. Shares in Minerva SA/Brazil (BVMF:BEEF3) fell to 5-year lows; falling 4.04% or 0.22 to 5.22.

The CBOE Brazil Etf Volatility, which measures the implied volatility of Bovespa options, was down 1.33% to 34.12.

Gold Futures for February delivery was up 0.71% or 18.61 to $2,654.11 a troy ounce. Elsewhere in commodities trading, Crude oil for delivery in February fell 0.70% or 0.49 to hit $69.61 a barrel, while the March US coffee C contract fell 1.84% or 6.05 to trade at $322.55 .

USD/BRL was down 0.13% to 6.18, while EUR/BRL fell 8.24% to 6.42.

The US Dollar Index Futures was down 0.13% at 107.88.
