Mexico stocks lower at close of trade; S&P/BMV IPC down 1.27%

Investing.com – Mexico stocks were lower after the close on Thursday, as losses in the Industrials, Consumer Goods & Services and Consumer Staples sectors led shares lower.

At the close in Mexico, the S&P/BMV IPC lost 1.27% to hit a new 52-week low.

The best performers of the session on the S&P/BMV IPC were Grupo Comercial Chedraui, SAB De CV (BMV:CHDRAUIB), which rose 2.03% or 2.56 points to trade at 128.49 at the close. Meanwhile, Corporacion Inmobiliaria Vesta SAB (BMV:VESTA) added 0.55% or 0.28 points to end at 51.60 and Bolsa Mexicana De Valores SAB De CV (BMV:BOLSAA) was up 0.30% or 0.10 points to 33.81 in late trade.

The worst performers of the session were Industrias Penoles Sab De CV (BMV:PEOLES), which fell 5.39% or 15.82 points to trade at 277.75 at the close. Regional SAB de CV (BMV:RA) declined 3.76% or 4.61 points to end at 118.14 and Genomma Lab Internacional SAB De CV (BMV:LABB) was down 3.65% or 0.97 points to 25.57.

Falling stocks outnumbered advancing ones on the Mexico Stock Exchange by 177 to 67 and 13 ended unchanged.

Gold Futures for February delivery was down 1.60% or 42.58 to $2,610.72 a troy ounce. Elsewhere in commodities trading, Crude oil for delivery in January fell 1.93% or 1.36 to hit $69.22 a barrel, while the February Brent oil contract fell 0.99% or 0.73 to trade at $72.66 a barrel.

USD/MXN was down 0.17% to 20.32, while EUR/MXN fell 0.10% to 21.06.

The US Dollar Index Futures was up 0.37% at 108.14.
