Japan stocks higher at close of trade; Nikkei 225 up 0.11%

Investing.com – Japan stocks were higher after the close on Friday, as gains in the Power, Banking and Rubber sectors led shares higher.

At the close in Tokyo, the Nikkei 225 rose 0.11%.

The best performers of the session on the Nikkei 225 were Otsuka Holdings Ltd (TYO:4578), which rose 3.37% or 295.00 points to trade at 9,049.00 at the close. Meanwhile, DeNA Co Ltd (TYO:2432) added 2.92% or 51.50 points to end at 1,814.50 and Dentsu Inc. (TYO:4324) was up 2.79% or 129.00 points to 4,748.00 in late trade.

The worst performers of the session were Tokyo Electric Power Co., Inc. (TYO:9501), which fell 3.14% or 20.80 points to trade at 642.20 at the close. Mercari Inc (TYO:4385) declined 2.55% or 62.50 points to end at 2,389.50 and Kansai Electric Power Co Inc (TYO:9503) was down 2.34% or 62.50 points to 2,608.00.

Falling stocks outnumbered advancing ones on the Tokyo Stock Exchange by 1953 to 1554 and 329 ended unchanged.

Shares in Otsuka Holdings Ltd (TYO:4578) rose to all time highs; up 3.37% or 295.00 to 9,049.00. Shares in DeNA Co Ltd (TYO:2432) rose to 52-week highs; gaining 2.92% or 51.50 to 1,814.50. Shares in Dentsu Inc. (TYO:4324) rose to 52-week highs; gaining 2.79% or 129.00 to 4,748.00.

The Nikkei Volatility, which measures the implied volatility of Nikkei 225 options, was up 0.59% to 27.30.

Crude oil for November delivery was up 0.74% or 0.52 to $71.19 a barrel. Elsewhere in commodities trading, Brent oil for delivery in December rose 0.63% or 0.47 to hit $74.92 a barrel, while the December Gold Futures contract rose 0.51% or 13.90 to trade at $2,721.40 a troy ounce.

USD/JPY was down 0.17% to 149.95, while EUR/JPY fell 0.01% to 162.66.

The US Dollar Index Futures was down 0.22% at 103.43.
