Mexico stocks lower at close of trade; S&P/BMV IPC down 0.93%

Investing.com – Mexico stocks were lower after the close on Wednesday, as losses in the Industrials, Consumer Goods & Services and Consumer Staples sectors led shares lower.

At the close in Mexico, the S&P/BMV IPC declined 0.93%.

The best performers of the session on the S&P/BMV IPC were Qualitas Controladora, SAB De CV (BMV:Q), which rose 1.17% or 1.95 points to trade at 168.02 at the close. Meanwhile, Wal Mart de Mexico SAB de CV (BMV:WALMEX) added 1.06% or 0.61 points to end at 58.06 and Banco Del Bajio SA Institution De Banca Multiple (BMV:BBAJIOO) was up 0.69% or 0.30 points to 43.57 in late trade.

The worst performers of the session were Grupo Elektra , S.A.B. De C.V. (BMV:ELEKTRA), which fell 14.31% or 59.10 points to trade at 353.90 at the close. Orbia Advance Corporation SAB de CV (BMV:ORBIA) declined 6.99% or 1.15 points to end at 15.31 and Regional SAB de CV (BMV:RA) was down 5.82% or 7.58 points to 122.72.

Falling stocks outnumbered advancing ones on the Mexico Stock Exchange by 154 to 82 and 15 ended unchanged.

Shares in Orbia Advance Corporation SAB de CV (BMV:ORBIA) fell to 5-year lows; losing 6.99% or 1.15 to 15.31.

Gold Futures for February delivery was down 2.22% or 59.21 to $2,602.79 a troy ounce. Elsewhere in commodities trading, Crude oil for delivery in January fell 0.86% or 0.60 to hit $69.48 a barrel, while the February Brent oil contract fell 0.40% or 0.29 to trade at $72.90 a barrel.

USD/MXN was up 1.08% to 20.38, while EUR/MXN fell 0.08% to 21.14.

The US Dollar Index Futures was up 1.09% at 107.83.
